Sondra will be the keynote speaker for the Columbia Foundation and the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County on March 3, 2010.


New research released on the effect of the global recession on women’s philanthropy

Women are still giving despite the global recession and plan to give even more to human services, religion, women and girls and education.  Fifty two percent of the women polled said they believe they have a responsibility to give even more.  For a copy of the research results, please send a message to this website.

Sondra, Martha and Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz are writing a new book for Jossey-Bass with the working title of “Women and Philanthropy: Boldly Shaping a Better World.” The book will be published in the fall of 2010.


Martha and Sondra were honored by receiving the first Shaw-Hardy Taylor Achievement Award “for extraordinary contributions to moving women’s philanthropy forward,” presented to Sondra and Martha by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

The award was presented at the Center’s 20th Annual Symposium and is the first of the periodic Shaw-Hardy Taylor awards to be given.
